When to Choose Rock Wool
Rock wool is mineral and non-combustible, earning the highest fire classifications. Choose it where fire code demands A-grade non-combustibility: fuel storage, certain industrial facilities, high-occupancy buildings, or projects where the authority specifically requires non-combustible cores. The trade-off is roughly double the weight and weaker insulation per millimetre.
When to Choose PIR
PIR delivers far better thermal performance at lower weight and cost. For the majority of warehouses, factories and cold stores – where the priority is cooling efficiency and the fire requirement is met by FM 4880 Class 1 PIR – PIR is the right choice. It is the default core for Great Wall panels across the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
