The base: LME plus conversion
Aluminium is a traded commodity, so coil and ACP track the LME aluminium price, which is volatile — it moves week to week. On top sits a conversion margin for rolling, coating and lamination. When someone quotes a fixed price with no validity window, ask how long it holds; most factory quotes are valid days, not months, because the metal moves.
What changes the price on the same LME
Core: FR core costs 20–40% more than PE, A2 more again. Coating: PVDF costs more than PE but lasts far longer. Thickness: a 4mm/0.50mm facade panel costs more than a 3mm/0.21mm signage panel — and the cheap one is not facade grade. Volume: coil sold by the multi-tonne batch is cheaper per m² than small parcels.
Two 2026 policy shifts that raised the floor
China removed the aluminium export tax rebate (about 13%) from December 2024, so export coil and ACP cost more than the year before — a 2026 quote should already include this. And the GCC applied anti-dumping on aluminium semis in 2025, which can add duty to raw coil (less so to finished ACP). Both change your landed cost, so price them in from the start.
How to compare quotes fairly
Put every quote on the same basis: core (PE/FR/A2), coating (PVDF/PE) and micron, total and skin thickness, RAL and gloss, quantity, Incoterm (FOB vs CIF your port) and validity. A “cheap” ACP is usually a thinner skin or PE core. Compare like for like, then the real winner is obvious.
